The 2015 PGA Championship, will be the 97th time the tournament is played and the third time it will visit Whistling Straits, Wisconsin. Along with The Masters, US Open and Open Championship, the PGA Championship is one of four major tournaments played throughout the season.
A number of different courses have hosted the event over the years, with many doing so regularly. Whistling Straits also held the PGA Championship in 2004 and 2010. Interestingly, both of those tournaments required a play-off to find the eventual winner. Having only been played at Whistling Straits twice, there is yet to be an American winner of the PGA Championship on the course, with Vijay Singh and Martin Kaymer winning the previous two.
Defending the PGA Championship in 2015, will be Rory McIlroy. Having won the event twice, the world number one will feel confident of becoming the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007, to retain the title. Following his victory at The Masters, Jordan Spieth could become the first American player to win the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
Other names to look for, include Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and Adam Scott. Each of them has the game to succeed at Whistling Straits and both Rose and Scott have major title victories to their name. There is also Tiger Woods to consider. What kind of form will the 14 time major winner be in come August?
A major golf tournament, such as the PGA Championship, is not just about the fantastic level of golf that's played. No, it's also about the tremendous fashion and accessory statements that the players like to make.
Two of the major winners above, Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott have something in common and that something is Scotty Cameron. Famous for their putters, Spieth also had something else on show at The Masters, a Scotty Cameron putter cover. Usually made in limited quantity, a Scotty Cameron putter cover is the centre-piece of any golf bag.
It's not only Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott who make use of these. Look closely at the likes of Jimmy Walker and Victor Dubuisson and you are sure to spot a Scotty Cameron putter cover.
With the PGA Championship the final major of the year, all the top players will be looking to make a statement on the golf course. This applies to both their golf game and personal style. Look closely at Whistling Straits in August and see how many Scotty Cameron putter covers you can see. With their colorful and unique designs, they should not be too difficult to spot.
